Michelle's (EOI) Blog for Elementary (Básico 1) students

Welcome to our blog!

2. Beginning of Course (First Term)

ENERO 2012: Estoy de BAJA por enfermedad, pero ésta fue la información dada a principio de curso que seguirá siendo válida. No obstante, consultadlo con el profesor suplente, porque podría haber algún ajuste.

Here is a list of the handouts (photocopies) I gave out in class. If you missed this lesson, print them!

Here is an overview of the course in English… - Give it a try!

 More… Read on!

Remember that you need to do all the exercises in the unit, regardless what happens in class. And you should also ALWAYS finish one unit in that month. So get organized. In class, because of the Oral Work, we don’t always have time to check every exercise in the textbook, but you can always ask questions in class, request I write answers of some exercises on the board, and request we check whatever you have been working on, including the optional workbook.

The WORKBOOK (with key and audio) is recommended for people who have never studied English. For people who are False Beginners, Projects are a better option: learning poems, stories, to video record or just say in class.

FOCUS: LEARNING TO PRONOUNCE, LEARNING TO SPEAK, LEARNING TO SURVIVE WITH WHAT YOU HEAR. There’ll be Oral Tests every day, based on the audios in your Textbook (monologues and dialogues). You will learn them by ear, first in class, listening and repeating, and practicing in pairs and small groups, and later at home, doing the same.

Your HOMEWORK always includes 1) Listening and Repeating the textbook audios, to do them at Plenary in some subsequent lesson, and 2) doing 1 page (for 1-hour lesson) or 2 pages (for 2-hour lessons) of the lesson we will check in class the next day.
