Michelle's (EOI) Blog for Elementary (Básico 1) students

Welcome to our blog!

Apologies

Dear students,

I’m ill. I can’t go to class. The School is going to ask for a substitute teacher today.

I hope you can continue with the Lesson Plans at home. Please, work on your monologues and dialogues — this will help you learn best!

Big hug!

Abrazos

Lesson Plans for January-February

Lesson Plans for Básico 1 – Borrador – Plan para enero y febrero

*Homework Special: For the rest of the course, the day we finish checking the “D” section in a unit, your homework will be: doing your Writing Assignment and taking the Unit Test at home (don’t do the test listening exercise; and skip the Practical English section, as usual). New episodes for your speaking practice!

Dear students,

Today I am recording and I am uploading new episodes of the Talking People podcast for Elementary students, so check out the page here called EPISODES of the TP Podcast.

I just uploaded (US) / I have just uploaded (UK) the episode called “My Weekly Routines“, which is also linked on the page here called “Monologues and Dialogues” by units. It is another example for Unit 3. The next episode is called “My Lifestyle” and it corresponds to Unit 3, too. It’s about eating and drinking habits, and so on.

The next episodes I hope to upload are for future lessons: My Neighbours, and 3 stories in the past.

Have a lovely weekend and remember to listen and repeat! :D

About unit 3

Dear students,

Remember you should finish unit 3 in your Winter Holidays / Christmas holidays (from 3A to 3D + back pages). We will start the unit this week in class. (Your homework is 3A for next day, except the little listening activity at the bottom of the second page). Remember to visit Page 4 on this blog, to see which audios you need to learn by ear  in your holidays.

In January, we will check your homework, I will answer your questions, and you will do your unit monologues and dialogues. After that, we will watch the DVD and you will do your Writing. Finally, you will do your unit test at home (as homework), and we will check it in class and do the listening.

Remember to listen to your audios every day. Listen again to the audios in unit 1 and 2! You need to consolidate! You will feel very happy and confident! :)

Week Dec 5-9

Dear students,

Remember next week Tuesday and Thursday are holidays. This means the Tuesday groups won’t have a lesson next week!
BUT — you all have to do a unit a month, so please, when you finish consolidating your learning of unit 2, start unit 3.

Next week the Monday groups will only have the Wednesday lesson. We will finish consolidating unit 2 and then you can start unit 3.

Have a lovely weekend! :)

Important message: No lesson next Monday!

Dear all,

I’ve got an appointment with my doctor next Monday, Dec 5th, so I cannot give you a lesson.

Consolidate your learning of unit 2, work on your monologues and dialogues, and see you on Wednesday Dec 7th!

Enjoy your weekend! :)

Videoshooting!!

December will be our videoshooting month! So if you wish to contribute to the School’s YouTube channel, let me know! You can volunteer for monologues or dialogues. Think about it! What would you like to record? I’ll bring my digital video camera every day, in case you want to be recorded. If you do, you need to sign a permission, so we can publish a video of you speaking English!

Remember to check out the videos of students who were in Básico 1 in previous years!

Spelling and Interviews!

I’m very happy with your progress in spelling, people! If you like, I can bring a video recorder and we can shoot a video for our YouTube channel on the School’s website! :)

Next week: in our Exam Area you should do the Interview, based on 1.19 and 1.20 but including your persona (true or fictional) information. We will also watch the DVD in Practical English, and you will practice those dialogues in pairs.

Your homework for the rest of the week is revise the complete unit, including Listening and Repeating (L&R) your unit audios.

You can post your questions about all this here, if you like!

Have a lovely weekend! :D
