Michelle's (EOI) Blog for Elementary (Básico 1) students

Welcome to our blog!

New podcast episode to practice Questions and Answers in the Past!

It’s a bit too long! 25 minutes! But there is some grammar and some listen-n-repeat! and two explanations on the meanings of “have” and “who/what” as subjects! You can post your questions here, if you like, or on the TP podcast, or on the TP Forums! :)

Two more audios to practice the past…

This weekend we’ve been working hard on the TP Podcast, where we have included Tags, and made a lovely copy of all the episodes so you can download it! (it’s 2 pages; the pods for Elementary are on page 2), and also on the Useful language section on the TP site, where we have created a printer-friendly copy of the transcripts! If you find any mistakes or if you have questions or comments, you’re welcome to post them here or on the podcast!

Here is the link to the Useful Language webpage for Elementary: http://www.talkingpeople.net/tp/usefullanguage/elementary/elementary.html

Remember you have the complete list over here (plus the link above now, too), on a Page called ***EPISODES for Básico at the Talking People Podcast***

Using the past!

If you have listened to the 2 Talking People episodes to practice/practise speaking in the past, now you can use this third resource to consolidate and expand your learning! The most difficult of all is the first TP Podcast episode, the one on Leonora Carrington’s bio, so you can leave this one for the last!

  • Past events: A Night Out (with transcript) (M5, 7’04” – It includes and explanation about when to use the present or the past tenses) - New episode!! (February 2012)
  • Past events: Bios (with transcript) (M5, 11’45” – two parts: pasts + presents = reviewing M2 Describing a picture) - New episode!! (February 2012)

Where did you go on holidays last year?  audio + transcript (British accent)

Post here your Requests & Sentences for podcast episodes!

I hope the Useful Language EPISODES at the Talking People podcast for ELEMENTARY students are useful. The other day I posted two more, which are useful for people using the NEF Elementary textbook (unit 5: the past). Julia mentioned she liked the idea of me repeating words in the mon so you can practice your pronunciation, so I’ll do that in every episode, OK? You can post whatever you like here! And I’ll do whatever I can! :D

See you around!

Remember there’s a list of useful episodes for NEF E students on a Page here (second column)

New episode! M5 (2)

In the new episode of the Talking People Podcast, we tackle the issue of when to use the present and past tenses and we offer a sample monologue on the topic: A night out! If you want to download it, you can fin the link on the Page here called Podcast Episodes at the TP Podcast!

We’ll be adding an icon to each of the new episodes of Useful Language for Monologues at the Elementary level. Check out the TP Podcast and see if you can spot them more easily!

Enjoy!

New episode! M5 (1)

Dear all,

following the project I had for this course, I just recorded a new episode for Elementary students. It’s on the Talking People Podcast, and on the page I’m linking to below, you will find them all with their corresponding links!

I hope it’s useful! Coming up: one or two episodes more using the pasts. It’s really important you learn to be fluent in the past! ;)

Nightie night!
